Very instructive as children can observe the changing height of the sun throughout the year. These walk-on sundials are easy to construct, very durable and vandal-proof. They can be set into grass or painted onto tarmac. The child walks to the month marked on the central row of pavers and his shadow tells the time on the rings of pavers. |

This dial is at Holt Primary School in Wiltshire where the children entered a competition to design the numerals and decoration. A millennium time capsule was buried beneath the sundial. |
